Learn about the health benefits

Detoxification

Sweat out the toxins. Sweating is one of the body’s safest and most natural ways to heal and maintain good health by helping to eliminate toxic heavy metals, drug residues, and hormone disruptors. With the deepest penetration, Sunlighten saunas’ infrared heat helps increase blood flow and perspiration.

Weight loss

Increase metabolism and burn fat. Increasing core body heat increases calorie burn, similar to exercise. Infrared saunas also help with the elimination of toxins that cause fat storage.

Heart health

Improve heart health. Infrared therapy can help your heart work better by exercising the heart, temporarily reducing blood pressure, and improving circulation.

Anti aging

Purify and rejuvenate your skin. Harness a scientifically-proven “fountain of youth” and revitalize your skin’s appearance. The infrared waves increase circulation and detoxify the skin, helping regenerate and cleanse cells.

Immunity

Heating the body from the inside out can improve the function of the immune system just like a fever can. Therefore, regular Sunlighten sauna use can help reduce the incidences of cold and flu, or help you recover faster from illness.

Muscle recovery

Repair muscles faster. Many professional athletes use Sunlighten saunas to recover from their training and injuries. Infrared helps deliver more oxygen to cells for faster repair and pain relief.

Infrared Heat + Chromotherapy

Along with full spectrum infrared heat, our sauna also features calming chromotherapy lighting. Different colors are used to help promote relaxation, balance and an overall sense of wellbeing, creating an even more restorative experience for both body and mind.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL SAUNAS & INFRARED SAUNAS

traditional sauna

Traditional saunas heat the air to a point that initiates the body’s natural cooling process. This means blood comes to the surface of the skin and opens the pores.

  • 150-210° F

  • Surface heat

  • Sweat happens at higher temps

  • Extreme heat, shorter session

  • Requires more power

  • Uses heat stove at heat source

  • More humidity

infrared heat

Infrared saunas emit lightwaves that penetrate the body to stimulate the health benefits from within at a

cellular level.

  • 110-140° F

  • Deep, penetrating heat

  • More sweat at lower temps

  • Enjoyable heat, longer session

  • Requires less power

  • Uses infrared light panels as heat source

  • Less humidity

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an infrared sauna?

An infrared sauna uses infrared light to gently warm your body directly, creating a relaxing heat experience. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared heat helps warm your body more gradually, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of heat in a comfortable environment.

What are the benefits of infrared sauna?

Infrared sauna sessions are designed to support relaxation, help relieve muscle tension, promote circulation, and create time for rest and recovery. Many students enjoy infrared sauna as a complement to their yoga practice or as a way to slow down and recharge.

How long is an infrared sauna session?

You can choose between a 20-minute or 40-minute session. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to get comfortable and prepare for your session.

What should I bring to my sauna session?

Bring a towel and a water bottle. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing or a swimsuit during your session. A towel is provided, and water is available at the studio if needed.

Do I need to prepare before my sauna session?

Infrared sauna is a relaxing wellness experience, but if you have any health concerns, are pregnant, or have a medical condition, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before use.

Can I use the infrared sauna before or after yoga?

Many students enjoy using the sauna after yoga as part of their recovery routine. If you’re using the sauna before class, we recommend allowing enough time to hydrate and transition into your practice.

How often should I use the infrared sauna?

Frequency depends on your personal goals and preferences. Some people enjoy occasional sessions for relaxation, while others make it part of their regular wellness routine.

Do I need to be a yoga member to use the sauna?

You do not need to be a yoga member to use our infrared sauna. Sauna sessions are available to everyone, whether you practice yoga with us or are visiting the studio just for the sauna experience. Yoga members with an Unlimited Membership or 4x/Month Membership receive 50% off infrared sauna sessions.

How do I book an infrared sauna session?

Reservations are required so we can prepare the infrared sauna for your session. We recommend booking at least one day in advance whenever possible.

You can reserve your infrared sauna session through the Walla app, on our website, or by calling us at (734) 259-4324.
