You don't need to be flexible to start yoga. That's why you start.
Starting yoga can feel intimidating — especially if you think you're not flexible enough or coordinated enough. Here's the truth: those feelings are exactly why you belong on the mat.
At Plymouth Yoga Room, we've built an environment specifically for people who are just starting. There's no judgment about what you can or can't do on day one. Our teachers are trained to make modifications feel natural, not like an exception.
Every long-time student was once a nervous beginner.
Yoga builds strength, improves posture, reduces stress, and helps you reconnect with how your body feels. For beginners especially, the biggest benefit is often mental: a quieter mind, better sleep, and stronger body awareness.
And yes — your flexibility will improve too. But that's a side effect, not a prerequisite.
We have mats available to rent or borrow. Bring your own if you have one.
Stay hydrated. You'll sweat — especially in our heated classes.
Fitted or stretchy clothing works best. Avoid anything too loose.
Helpful for wiping down during or after class. We have some on hand.
A foundational class that introduces you to the most common poses with clear, thorough instruction. Perfect for day one.
A slower-paced class in our infrared-heated room. Great once you have the basics down.
Longer-held floor-based poses that target deep connective tissue. Excellent for stress relief.
You'll notice improved mobility and reduced stress within a few weeks. A solid starting point.
The sweet spot for beginners. You'll start building strength and seeing real change in how your body feels.
Our intro special is built for this — 4 weeks unlimited. Come as much as you like and find your rhythm.
Not at all. Flexibility is something you develop over time through a regular practice — it's not something you need to bring with you on day one
Yes. We use infrared heat, which is gentler than steam-based hot yoga. Most beginners adapt quickly. Just hydrate well before class and listen to your body.
Our teachers offer modifications for every pose. There's always a version of the movement that works for your body at its current level.
Many students feel a noticeable difference — better sleep, reduced tension, calmer mind — after just a few classes. Physical changes build over weeks
